I’m writing about the terrific experience we had working with Josh Powers. We needed someone to come in on a very tight schedule to build a pool house, and although other contractors probably wouldn’t have considered it (due to the smaller scale and tight schedule), Josh didn’t hesitate. He was very upfront with costs and scheduling and kept both under tight scrutiny. Throughout the project he was always willing to go the extra mile and time and again he came through to help us. We were very happy with the quality of work that was completed on time and within budget. 

Additionally, while we were working with Josh on the pool house, we had an unrelated building inspector issue regarding some landscaping work. Although this had nothing to do with Josh’s scope of work, he immediately stepped in and built the fastest and least-expensive safety railings possible. A lot of work and re-shuffling was required to make this happen even though he made us feel as if it was seamless. This was Josh’s attitude time and again. 

I hope we have the chance to work with Josh again in the future. I wouldn’t hesitate to trust him with a larger project next time as he has our complete confidence.

In our very first meeting with Josh, we knew immediately that he was the right person for our job. Josh was professional, honest and genuine. He came prepared with a very detailed budget estimate based on preliminary conversations we had prior to this meeting. We could tell that he had really listened to us. Post this, Josh came to each and every meeting prompt, well-prepared, and ready to contribute his thoughts and ideas. Throughout the project, we met with Josh many, many times to walk through the site, discuss the progress and work through any issues that had come up. The frequent updates and conversations with Josh helped make the whole process enjoyable, as it reconfirmed we were in good hands.

Josh is devoted to ensuring satisfaction, no matter the circumstance. Josh caters to every question with professionalism yet above all, true kindness and respect. In addition, our budget was always top of mind for Josh. Every time we presented new ideas for the construction or suggested an upgrade to the project (floors and windows for example) Josh priced everything out, helping us to determine whether or not these changes actually made sense and fit within the budget. 

Josh’s team also represents excellence. They are diligent, conscientious, creative and very efficient at attending to detail. They worked well together and wasted no time on the job site. They also went out of their way to meet our neighbors and kept them abreast of any major deliveries for the week. The team was also tidy, cleaning up the construction site daily. Working with Josh and his team is like being in a partnership. They listened well, kept to their timelines, and delivered what had been agreed upon while making you really feel like you are the one driving the process. 

Not only is Josh’s work beautiful, friends and neighbors who come by to visit share how amazing the energy feels in our home and rave about the detail. We fully attribute this to the hard work, thought, love, and care Josh and his team infused throughout working on our project. We could not be more grateful to Josh and his team for our new home!!

Ladies and Gentlemen:

It gives us great pleasure in writing this letter of recommendation for Josh Powers.

We hired Mr.Powers as our general contractor at the recommendation of our architect, Chambers + Chambers for the renovation of the second level of our home in San Anselmo. Given the fact that the 3-month renovation took place while we occupied our home, our experience was very positive. Mr.Powers and his crew, along with his hand-picked sub-contractors, did an excellent job for us. The quality of the finished product was superb. The entire crew was very respectful of our privacy and the project was completed reasonably on time and on budget in spite of several owner-mandated change orders that they had to deal with as a field condition. We also found Mr.Powers to be of high integrity and reasonable in his pricing, not just on the base contract but also on the change orders.

We unhesitatingly recommend him for any job that he either bids on or negotiates and will certainly use him again if the opportunity presents itself at a future date. Should anyone wish to contact us, we are happy to speak with them regarding this endorsement.

Dear Prospective Client,

My husband and I did a fairly extensive remodel that included an updated bathroom and kitchen remodel that transformed a traditional separate kitchen into an open space area in our 1950’s ranch house.

Josh and Oliver were easy to work with. They were excellent communicators and always responded to our questions or needs very quickly.

Even more important to our feelings about our project, was the team that Josh and Oliver put together – the group of people working day to day in our house. We felt very confident and pleased with the work of this crew. They were punctual, professional, friendly and more than anything, pleasant to be around. And they left the work area clean and tidy no matter what they were doing. This made our remodel a pleasant experience, rather than something we endured.

I imagine most projects have a hiccup or two and ours was no exception. Josh and Oliver understood if/when we had a problem and took care of it immediately without any consideration on our part. I advise you, no matter who you hire as your general contractor, to have an open and honest communication with them. It helps things run smoothly and makes everyone’s job easier. 

Josh seemed as interested in keeping to our budget as we were. It might seem like he takes a long time to create his bid, but this is because he asks all of his sub-contractors to bid on the project in order to get a realistic estimate and he considers everything he can think of to put in the bid. Although we did have some surprises (we had to do some unintended ceiling work) Josh came very close to his original budget for the original project. 

Overall, Josh, Oliver and all the people they hired were excellent. We happily and easily recommend them for any project.

To Whom It May Concern:

We are writing this letter in recommendation of Josh Powers as a general contractor. We worked with Josh before purchasing a home evaluating several properties for remodel potential. Josh was a key partner and advisor during the home purchase process. We ultimately decided on our home in Novato California. 

We closed escrow on the house and the very next day Josh and his team began a significant remodel of our home. The remodel consisted of an entire kitchen, new electrical and plumbing throughout the house, two bathrooms, upgraded HVAC, windows and exterior siding. The project was truly a whole house remodel.

Throughout the project Josh was professional, upfront and transparent. He provided a budget at the onset of the project and tracked progress along each of the line items. Josh did an excellent job of keeping the lines of communication open and eliminated any financial surprises.

Josh maintained a very efficient workplace. The workers showed up on time and the work got done on time. The job site was kept clean and tidy at the end of each day. We were very happy with the pace of the work and Josh did a magnificent job scheduling and sequencing all of the different subcontractors. Our remodel was four months of almost constant activity.

I think the two best qualities of Josh Powers are his attention to detail and high high energy level. The craftsmanship and detail are evident throughout the house; our exterior trim is tighter than many homes interior trim. Our baseboards and crown inside look like a single piece of wood magically wrapped itself around the house. 

We enjoyed visiting the job site and seeing the high energy level Josh provides and demands on site. This was visibly different from other contractors we have used in the past and made us feel like we were getting great value for our remodeling dollar. 

We are in our second week living in the completed home and couldn’t be happier. We have a home that feels brand new but has a sense of permanence that newer homes don’t have. We love our new house and we are very happy that we chose Josh to do the remodel.
